His performing credits include an acclaimed performance of Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G Minor with the Vermont Philharmonic, as well as two-piano concertos by Mozart and Poulenc (with Alison Cerutti). He has also performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Montpelier Chamber Orchestra, Burlington Civic Symphony, and with the Vermont Jazz Ensemble (Paul Whiteman orchestration) - the latter two performances conducted from the piano. As a solo and collaborative pianist, he has performed nearly every genre of music, from classical to country, from gospel to jazz. Daniel has been playing music (piano, organ, trumpet) and directing the UCN choir for nearly 2 decades.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Church Secretary Laura has been with the United Church of Northfield for decades. She has worn many hats in that time. Always ready for a new challenge, most recently she learned to set up and run ZOOM meetings. She ran the meetings, arranged our pulpit supply pastors schedule and kept us going for nearly a year before we settled our new minister, Rev. Julie Lombard. Laura does it all and we don’t know what we’d do without her. One of her many hats is that of Howe’s Hall Coordinator. If you, or a group you know, wishes to rent Howe’s Hall contact, Laura at lranker@myfairpoint.net or call her at 802 229-4351.</image:caption>

I like keeping the church looking good for everyone to enjoy. Also as a member of the Stewardship Committee I get to do more than cleaning. <image:title>Who We Are - Who We Are</image:title>
<image:caption>First and foremost we are a welcoming congregation, and we invite you to look deeper into sharing your future with us. Despite the pandemic we have continued to focus on our collective vision, to lean into the invitation to look at where we’ve been and where we want to be going. The pandemic, in that way, has been a blessing for those seeking contemplative examination of their identity and future path. Why did you come, and why have you stayed? “… the friendly, welcoming people, music, the minister, activities, diversity of thinking, Open and Affirming congregation.”-Anonymous</image:caption>

      <image:title>What We Do</image:title>
<image:caption>WHAT WE DO We strive to serve our congregation, community and greater world in ways to raise people up by providing love and support. We use our time, our talents, our worship and our facilities to achieve this. For example, we provide hands on and financial support for housing, fuel and food through our community and state food shelves, Community Emergency Relief Volunteers and our Pastor’s Discretionary Fund. We also offer free community dinners on a twice-monthly basis in partnership with the Methodist Church. Whether you choose to be a member of our church (multiple ways are offered to join) or are a visitor you are welcomed into our “family”. That sense of love and belonging are yours at no charge. We do things together- love, pray, grieve, celebrate, share meals, hopes, and dreams. We do this at Sunday worship and in small groups. We provide for weddings, funerals, and baptism with open arms to members and non-members. We encourage children to participate in all aspects of worship services. We support families and children through use of our facilities for playgroup, community meetings. We offer our hall out to the community for numerous groups, AA, Zumba, Yoga, business meetings and private parties. Our Open and Affirming Covenant of Faith was developed over the period of a year. A team of interested members and non-members provided input. We wrote and discussed and revised all with respect for each other’s opinions of what it meant to be open and affirming. In the end we produced a “living” document that guides us every day in our interactions with all people. Open and Affirming Covenant of Faith ‘The United Church of Northfield is an open and affirming congregation. We are committed to making justice and inclusion a reality in our world. We embrace and celebrate diversity and the dignity and worth of every individual. Whatever your age, race, beliefs, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, or physical, cognitive or emotional abilities; we value you and invite you to participate fully and without reservation in the life, leadership and mission of our church as we seek to be an expression of God's love in our community and the world.‘ “…this part of our mission calls us to become deeply and intimately involved in changing the conditions of life that hold us and others back from reaching our potential. And it has to go beyond our walls and be intimately entwined with the life of the community.” Adapted from a sermon by the Rev. Paul Oakley of the UU Fellowship of Mt., Illinois. You can see by the examples of what we at the United Church do, that our focus and faith are on a just path to helping all people meet their needs and realize their potential.</image:caption>
